'Söylenti' veya 'rivayet' genellikle resmi veya ciddi sohbetlerde geçer. Mahkemede 'hearsay evidence' ifadesiyle delil olarak kabul edilmeyen bilgiyi anlatır; sıradan dedikodu için kullanılmaz.
