Definition

両端が鎖でつながった金属の輪で、主に警察が人の手首を固定して自由に動かせないようにするときに使います。

通常は複数形で使います：「手錠をかける」「手錠を外す」「手錠姿の」。主に警察など公的な場面で実際の拘束具として使用されます。比喩的にはあまり用いません。

The police officer put handcuffs on the suspect.

警察官は容疑者に**手錠**をかけた。
