食べ物や飲み物を一気に飲み込むこと。また、緊張や恐怖でつい飲み込むことも指す。

主に飲み物によく使われる口語的な表現です。「gulp down」は「一気に飲み干す」、「gulp in fear」は「怖くて（ごくりと）飲み込む」という意味。「sip」（少しずつ飲む）との違いに注意。
