十分な情報がないまま、正しいかどうかわからず想像や考えを言うこと。またはそうした答えや考え。

日常会話でよく使われ、複数形で使うことが多い（例：'彼の推測は正しかった'）。'guess'は自信がないときに使う。'make', 'have', 'take a guess'とよく組み合わせる。

She made three guesses before she got the answer right.
