Definition
人々が何か目的を持って集まるイベントのこと。パーティーや会議、祝賀会や話し合いなどが含まれます。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
主に複数人が集まる社交的や公式の場で使われます。'family gatherings'（家族の集まり）、'social gatherings'（社交的な集まり）などの決まった表現が多いです。小規模や形式ばらない集まりにはあまり使いません。
