果物は、リンゴやバナナ、オレンジなど、植物の食べられる甘い・酸っぱい部分です。比喩的に成果や結果を表すこともあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

一般的な食品として話す時は「果物」は数えないことが多い：'I eat a lot of fruit.' 種類や個数を言う時は数える：'tropical fruits'や'1つの果物'。慣用句『the fruit of』は「成果」を意味する。
