物や場所の前面、正面の部分を指します。戦争や天気などで活動や現象が直接起こる場所や位置も意味します。

'in front of' は「〜の前」と訳す。『front door』（玄関）、『front page』（一面）など頻出。時間的な「前」には使わない。また、身体の「顔」とは別の意味。
