Definition

液体の表面に沈まずに浮かんだ状態や、空中をふわふわと漂う、または穏やかに広がることも指します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に水面に浮かぶ物や人に使われますが、バルーンや音楽のように空中や空間をゆっくり漂う場合にも使います。「float」の過去形です。比喩的にも使われます。
