Definition

किसी तरल की सतह पर डूबे बिना तैरना या रहना। कभी-कभी हवा में धीरे-धीरे बहने या आराम से फैलने के लिए भी इस्तेमाल होता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

अक्सर पानी पर वस्तुओं या लोगों के लिए प्रयोग होता है, लेकिन हवा में हल्के से चलने के लिए भी ('a balloon floated away') इस्तेमाल होता है। 'float' का भूतकाल है। प्रचलित संयोजन: 'floated on the water', 'floated through the room'। शब्दशः या रूपक रूप में इस्तेमाल हो सकता है।
