特定の物事や人に固執しすぎる状態、または何かを固定・安定させる過程のこと。

心理学や科学分野でよく使われます。日常では「obsession（執着）」のほうが感情的で、「fixation」は形式的な印象です。たとえば「洗浄への固執」や「炭素固定」など。
