Definition

魚は水中に住み、うろことひれを持つ動物です。また、食材として使われる魚の肉も指します。

日本語で「魚」は生きている魚にも、食材にも使います。文脈で意味が決まります。単数・複数の区別はありません。

There is a fish in the aquarium.

水槽に**魚**がいる。

We ate grilled fish for dinner.

夕食に焼き**魚**を食べました。

She likes to watch the fish swim.
