「fiends」は悪魔や怪物などの邪悪で残酷な存在を指します。カジュアルな場面では、何かにとても夢中な人や親しい仲間を指すこともあります。

普通はモンスターや悪魔に使います。「video game fiends」のように、何かに夢中な人にもカジュアルに使われますが、あまり一般的でありません。「friends」とは違う単語です。

The old story was full of fiends and heroes.
