出来事があらかじめ決まっていて変えられないという考えや力、またはその人や物事の最終的な結果。

文学的・ドラマチックな場面でよく使われます。「by fate」「leave it to fate」「a twist of fate」「meet your fate」などのフレーズで使われることが多いです。'future' や 'luck' よりも運命には抗えない強い力を感じさせます。
