যে ব্যক্তি কোনো ঘটনা, বিশেষ করে অপরাধ বা দুর্ঘটনা, নিজের চোখে দেখে এবং তা বর্ণনা করতে পারে।

মূলত আইনগত বা পুলিশের প্রেক্ষাপটে ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন 'eyewitness testimony' বলতে সাক্ষীর বিবৃতি বোঝায়।
