Definition

極端とは、ある基準や状況の両端にある、全く異なる対極のことです。例えば、非常に暑いと非常に寒い、またはとても裕福ととても貧しいなどです。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

通常は複数形で使い、「go to extremes（極端に走る）」のような表現で使われます。天候や意見、状況を説明する際によく登場し、普通の中間的な状況には使いません。
