自分の利益のために他人や物を不当に利用すること。また、資源を最大限活用する意味もある。

『child exploitation』『labor exploitation』『resource exploitation』のような表現でよく使われる。多くは否定的な意味だが、『resource exploitation』は中立や専門的な場面で使われることもある。
