특정 목적을 가지고 여러 사람이 함께 떠나는 여행이나 탐험. 주로 연구, 탐사, 모험을 위한 것.

‘원정’, ‘탐험’은 보통 연구, 탐사 또는 모험을 목적으로 공식적인 맥락에서 사용됨. 단순 여행이나 휴가에는 쓰지 않음. ‘남극 원정’, ‘탐험대’ 등과 같이 사용됨.
