特定の目的で行われる、複数人での旅や探検。科学調査や冒険を目的としたものが多い。

「遠征」や「探検隊」は正式で科学的・冒険的な旅に使います。「旅行」や「観光」とは区別します。「南極遠征」「調査隊」などの表現が一般的です。
