エステートは、亡くなった人が残した全財産や、大きな家のある広大な土地、または計画的に建てられた住宅区域を指します。

法律用語では「estate」は遺産を示します。イギリス英語では「housing estate」「industrial estate」などの表現も一般的。'state'（州・国）と混同しないよう注意。
