كلمة 'entire' أكثر رسمية من 'whole'، وغالبًا تُستخدم للتأكيد على الشمول ('the entire world'، 'the entire day'). لا تخلط بينها وبين 'every' التي تشير إلى كل جزء على حدة، بينما 'entire' للكل ككتلة واحدة.
