エミールとは、特に中東のいくつかの国で使われる、支配権や指導力を持つイスラム圏の指導者や君主を指します。

「エミール」は歴史・現代両方で使われる語で、イスラム社会に特有の指導者を指します。ヨーロッパの「プリンス」とは異なり、実際に権力を持つ場合が多いです。
