胚とは、生物が発生のごく初期段階にある状態のことです。人間や動物、植物の成長初期を指します。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
主に生物学や医学で使われる正式な言葉です。人の場合は8週までの発生段階を指します。比喩的にアイデアや計画の初期段階にも使います（'embryo of a plan'など）。
