社説とは、新聞や雑誌で編集者や編集委員会の意見を表す記事のことです。また、編集や出版社に関することも指します。

主に新聞や雑誌の社説を指します。形容詞的に「編集の」「出版社の」という意味で使われることも。『編集者（editor）』『編集する（edit）』とは異なります。ファッションでは雑誌向け写真企画も指します。
