यह "dig" का भूतकाल है। इसका मतलब है ज़मीन में गड्ढा बनाना, औज़ार या हाथ से मिट्टी हटाना, या किसी चीज़ को गहराई से ढूँढ़ना।

यह आमतौर पर सचमुच खोदने के लिए आता है: 'dug a hole', 'dug in the garden'। इसका रूपक अर्थ भी होता है, जैसे किसी चीज़ में ध्यान से खोजना: 'dug through my bag/files'। इसे slang 'dig' (= पसंद करना या समझना) से अलग रखें।
