「Downing」是讓某物或某人倒下，通常用武力，或一次性很快喝完或喫完某物。

兩種意義用途都偏口語，常見於“downing a drink”（一口喝完）和“downing an opponent”（擊倒對手）。不適用於慢慢喫或喝。
