スポーツでは特にテニスで、ダブルスは各チームに2人ずつで行う試合です。動詞としては、何かが2倍になることを意味します。

「ダブルス」はテニスや卓球などチーム戦で使われます。動詞の形では、数量や値段などが2倍になる時に使います。「ミックスダブルス」は男女ペアです。「二重」や「2つ」という意味では使いません。
