小さく丸い印で、文章や図、模様などによく使われます。モールス信号や点字の一つ一つの印を指すこともあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「polka dots」は水玉模様、「connect the dots」は点をつなぐ、「dot the i's」は「i」に点をつけるという意味です。技術の分野では、ディスプレイの表示点やピクセルを指すことがあります。「spot（しみ・場所）」と混同しないように。
