Definition

何かにぶつからないようにすばやく体をよけること。または、質問や責任、問題などを直接扱わずに避けること。

物理的には素早く体を動かしてよける。比喩的には「質問をよける」「責任を避ける」など意図的な回避に使う。「avoid」より積極的な動きが強調される。

He dodged the ball and laughed.
