किसी ऐसी वस्तु को दर्शाता है जो शरीर के केंद्र या किसी आरंभिक बिंदु से दूर होती है; खासतौर पर शरीर रचना विज्ञान में अंगों के स्थान की तुलना में उपयोग होता है।

मुख्य रूप से चिकित्सीय, शारीरिक रचना या वैज्ञानिक संदर्भों में प्रयोग होता है। अक्सर 'proximal' (नजदीक) के विपरीत इस्तेमाल होता है। आम बातचीत में विरले ही प्रयोग।
