Definition

ディンギーとは、大きな船に積んであることが多い、小さなボートのことです。短い距離を移動するときや、岸と大きな船を行き来する際に使います。オールや小型エンジン、セイルで動かします。

ディンギーは硬い素材やゴム製（インフレータブル）など様々なタイプがあります。「inflatable dinghy＝ゴムボート」、「rowing the dinghy＝ディンギーを漕ぐ」などの言い回しがあります。「カヌー」や「カヤック」とは違います。
