円や球の中心を通り、両端が円周や球面上にある直線の長さ。

数学や科学、工学でよく使います。'circle（円）'や 'sphere（球）', 'pipe（パイプ）' などとセットで使うことが多いです。'radius（半径）'は直径の半分なので混同しないよう注意しましょう。
