にもかかわらず

何か妨げがあっても、物事が起きたり本当だったりする時に使う表現です。名詞や動名詞の前に使います。

'Despite'と'in spite of'はほぼ同じ意味で使われますが、'despite of'とは言いません。後ろには名詞や動名詞がきます。

We went for a walk despite the rain.

雨**にもかかわらず**、私たちは散歩に行きました。

She smiled despite her pain.
