Definition

用來表示某事發生了或屬實，儘管存在某種困難、阻礙，或照理說結果應該相反。後面通常接名詞、代詞或動詞的 -ing 形式，不能單獨直接接完整子句。

Usage Notes (Chinese (Traditional))

這個詞在口語和書面語中都很常見。'despite' 和 'in spite of' 意思幾乎一樣，但不能說 'despite of'。在 'despite' 後面要說 'despite the rain' 或 'despite being tired'，不能說 'despite it was raining'。
