被從較高職位降到較低職位，通常發生在工作或組織中。

“Demoted” 多用於正式場合，例如職場或軍隊。常見搭配有“demoted to assistant manager”，“got demoted for poor performance”。不要跟“fired”（解僱）混淆。相反詞是“promoted”。
