量や数、価値などが以前より少なくなったこと。「decrease」の過去形。

主に正式や技術的な文章（金融、科学など）で使われます。「decreased by ○％」のように、減少した割合を表すことが多いです。名詞では使いません。「reduce」とは使い方が異なるので注意が必要です。

The temperature decreased last night.

昨夜、気温が**減少した**。

Sales decreased after the holiday.
