だます欺く

Definition

誰かをわざと誤ったことを信じさせて、自分が有利になったり責任を避けたりすること。

「だます」は意図的な行為で、ややフォーマル。'deceive someone into (doing something)' のような使い方も多いです。「ごまかす」や「欺く」とはニュアンスが異なります。

He tried to deceive his teacher about his homework.

彼は宿題について先生を**だまそう**とした。
