不再活著；已停止所有生物功能。也可以表示某物不工作或缺乏活力。

通常用於醫學或技術環境描述生物體的死亡，也非正式地指電子設備停止工作（“我的手機沒電了”）。常作為比喻使用（“死一般的寂靜”，“死衚衕”）。不要與動詞過去式“died”混淆。

The plant is dead because it didn’t get enough water.

這株植物因為沒有足夠的水而**死了**。
