圆柱体是一种有平直侧面、两个完全一样的圆形平面端的形状；也指机器中这个形状的部件，比如汽车发动机或容器。

“Cylinder”在数学（几何）和日常用品（如煤气罐、发动机）中常用。机械里指有内腔、零件能活动的部分。不要和“circle”（圆形，平面）或“tube”（管子，通常更长且未必端面平）混淆。
