Definition
Custódia é o cuidado, controlo ou responsabilidade legal sobre uma criança ou outra pessoa. Também pode significar estar detido pela polícia ou pelas autoridades.

É usada sobretudo em contextos jurídicos, especialmente no direito da família: 'child custody', 'joint custody' e 'sole custody'. Em contexto policial, são comuns 'in custody' e 'take someone into custody'. Não se refere ao cuidado do dia a dia em geral; normalmente implica controlo oficial ou legal.
