Tanggung jawab hukum untuk merawat atau mengendalikan anak atau orang lain. Juga dapat berarti ditahan oleh polisi atau otoritas.

Umumnya dipakai dalam konteks hukum: 'child custody', 'joint custody', 'sole custody'. Dalam konteks polisi: 'in custody', 'take into custody'. Tidak digunakan untuk perawatan biasa sehari-hari.
