十字軍とは、中世にキリスト教徒とイスラム教徒の間で聖地をめぐり行われた宗教戦争を指します。また、何か大きな目標を達成しようとする熱心な運動にも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

多くの場合、歴史的な戦争を指して複数形で使われます。現代では「a crusade against〜」のように熱心な活動にも使われます。
