직선이 아니거나 휘어진 것을 말하며, 사람이나 행동에 대해선 부정직하거나 부패했다는 의미도 있다.

사물에는 불규칙하게 휘어진, 사람이나 행동에는 정직하지 않은 의미로 쓰인다. 'crooked smile', 'crooked teeth', 'crooked politician' 등에 자주 쓰임.
