Definition

منخفض كبير على شكل وعاء على سطح كوكب أو قمر، ينتج عادةً عن ثوران بركاني أو اصطدام نيزك. يُستخدم مجازياً أيضاً لأي حفرة كبيرة.

Usage Notes (Arabic)

يمكن استخدامه كفعل بمعنى 'ينهار بشكل كبير' (مثل 'the stock price cratered'). تراكيب شائعة: "impact crater"، "volcanic crater"، "bomb crater"، "crater lake".
