Definition

警察や軍隊などが安全や警備のために場所への立ち入りを制限するために作る人や物のバリケードや境界線。また、そのようなバリケードを設ける行為も指す。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

公式の場や事件、災害現場などで使われます。「police cordon」や「cordon off an area」などの表現で出ることが多く、日常の単なるロープや紐には使いません。
