সমাজে প্রতিষ্ঠিত নিয়ম-কানুন বা আচরণের বিধি; এছাড়াও কোনো নির্দিষ্ট উদ্দেশ্যে বড় সভা বা সম্মেলন।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

‘conventions’ শব্দটি সামাজিক নিয়ম (‘social conventions’) ও বৃহৎ সম্মেলন (‘industry conventions’) দুই অর্থেই ব্যবহৃত হয়। এটি আনুষ্ঠানিক বা আধা-আনুষ্ঠানিক প্রসঙ্গে বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। ‘inventions’ বা ‘conditions’ এর সঙ্গে গুলিয়ে ফেলবেন না।
