慣習大会

Definition

社会や分野、活動で一般的に受け入れられているやり方。また、共通の関心を持つ人々が集まる大規模な集会のことも指す。

'by convention'は「慣例で」という意味。イベントの場合は「大会」「コンベンション」とも言う。「naming convention」は命名規則を指す。人の集まりやシステムのルールどちらにも使える。

By convention, people shake hands when they meet.

**慣習**として、人々は会うと握手をします。

She is going to a teachers' convention this weekend.
