２つ以上の主張や考え、行動が互いに反していて、同時にすべてが正しいとは言えないこと。

論理的な議論やフォーマルな場面でよく使われます。'直接の矛盾'、'論理的矛盾'、「矛盾語法」の形で使われることが多いです。「パラドックス（逆説）」とは意味が異なります。
