前に起こったことの結果として、何かが続く場合に使います。二つの出来事の論理的なつながりを示します。

主にフォーマルな文書やスピーチで使われます。カジュアルな会話ではあまり使いません。'so'（だから）よりも硬い表現です。'eventually'（最終的に）とは意味が違うので注意しましょう。

It rained all night; consequently, the streets are wet.

一晩中雨が降った。**その結果**、道が濡れている。

He did not study for the exam; consequently, he failed.
