人や物を特定の範囲や空間にとどめておくこと。自由に出たり行動したりできないように制限する場合にも使います。

やや堅い言葉で、医療・法律・技術分野でよく使います。「confine to bed」「confined space」「confined to」などの表現が一般的。「define」や「combine」と混同しないよう注意。
