「化合物」は複数の元素が結びついた物質や、塀やフェンスで囲まれた建物とその敷地を指します。

理系では「化合物」は原子が複数結合したもの。日常や不動産関係では、塀やフェンスで囲まれた「敷地」を意味します。「component」（部品）や「composite」（複合素材）と混同しないようにしましょう。
